Jim Schmidt Custom Knife 1979 One of Kind Carved & Scrimshawed King Cobra Push Dagger
This is the only Jim Schmidt Push Dagger that I have ever seen. The push dagger's oosic handle is carved and scrimshawed by Jim Schmidt. Jim has inlaid fire opals in the eyes of the coiled cobra. The blade is mirror polished forged 440C steel.
When Jim made this knife he offered a rattlesnake carved handle but the commissioner wanted a cobra handle instead. Due to the complexity and amount of work involved in carving the cobra, Jim charged the commissioner an extra 50% to make it.
The knife is signed Schmidt 79. I looked through the newly released "James A Schmidt The Great Master Book" and did not see another push dagger in it. The collector I purchased the knife from believed that this was the only push dagger that Jim has ever made.
