Christoph Deringer Custom Knife Hand Forged From a 1″ Ball Bearing (52100 Steel) Wharncliffe Straight Knife
Christoph Deringer is a Mastersmith in the American Blade Smith society. The knife is a Wharncliffe straight knife. It is forged from a 1" ball bearing (52100), part of Christoph's 1" ball experiment. Handle and sheath are Canadian mammoth ivory, sheath tip and collar are nickel silver. The handle is fixed in place with 8 blind pins and 4 cast keys ( at each end of the scales). Forged to shape(98%),with all stock removal done using hand tools (files,scrapers and stones).
