Bill Moran Custom Knife #1 Bill Moran’s Personal Skinner with Fluted Nickle Silver & Fluted Pre-ban Elephant Ivory
This was Bill Moran's personal knife. It has Fluted Nickel Silver bolsters and Fluted Ivory handle. This skinner is marked # 1.
He made it for himself in 1968, and chose the design as his favorite in the "Guns Digest Book of Knives" in 1973. At that time he was selected as the best knifemaker in the world along with Bob Loveless.
This is a piece of Knifemaking History. Bill Moran never had a helper and only made about 40 knives per year. He drips with Americana as a blacksmith knifemaker and he was the re-inventor of Damascus Steel. He founded the American Bladesmith Society, which is now a strong organization.
