John Lewis Jensen Custom Knife "Strata Dragon" Featured in Dr. David Darom's "Art and Design in Modern Fixed Blade Knives".
The fantasy fighter names "Strata Dragon" was made by John Lewis Jensen for Dr. David Darom's ""Art and Design in Modern Custom Fixed Blade Knives" book.
The following was quoted from John Lewis Jensen's website: "With "Strata Dragon", I really delved into the theme that many people seem to associate with my work, "Fantasy". Though, aside from this piece, this label is not one that I have ever really agreed with. With "Strata Dragon" I really went with a themed piece that you could very easily build a story line around. This piece is very sculptural, dimension wise with its protruding, flaring solid gold horns, gold piercings, (which I see as stirrups for a rider), overall shape and components, particularly the gold-lip pearl. This is also my 1st use of Carbon Fiber, which is nasty to stuff to work with, but is quite unique visually. The Damascus steel was hot blued and selectively polished on the ricasso, which also features some flame pattern masking. The bolsters are heat colored meteorite. Liners, spikes and handle core are all anodized titanium. Inlays consist of abalone, Mokume-Gane, my signature logo and additional photo under semi transparent pearl."
